MarshallTalk is an Internet BLOG that discusses hard to deal with and controversial issues including Race, Politics, Class, Gender, Media, etc. The goal is to debate these issues and try to come up with some practical solutions. We also have weekly and monthly polls on a variety of topics. Marshall is a VERY emotional, direct to the point writer and previous Internet Radio Personality (Hopefully we can do something about that soon!). He really would appreciate your frequent debate/participation.

Obviously you missed the point, or QUESTION! I do agree with part of something you said, and they that is "simplistic", yes this is a pretty simplistic view which is exactly how I think it should be approached. Usually you get a bunch of so called experts talking over people heads because they have to prove how intelligent they are, instead of dealing with the issue from a layman perspective, because that is who they are usually dealing with, especially when it comes to racist issues.
I learned a long time ago, it doesn't matter what you say if no one can understand you. Your points don't really make a lot of sense to me, because this is NOT about feelings, this is about action. If it was about feelings, WHO CARES! We could just move on. It has been proven that race matters when you go to court, when you apply for a job, when you try to buy a house or car, when you go to school, etc., etc. So maybe we should ask the people that commit 20% of all Crimes, why they represent 80% of the prison population if race matters to them.
I personally agree that people have the RIGHT to like or dislike whoever they want, however they do not have the RIGHT to take it any further than that, which is exactly what the problem with racist is. People feel like because they don't like someone because of the color of their skin, they can just do whatever they want. Most people when it comes to race I believe is LAME, because they try to make it seem like racist is about a bunch of people that just have their feelings hurt, when the fact is it is HISTORY! Whenever the US Supreme Court reviews a case, they look back at HISTORY of the issues, and judgements based on the HISTORY of the issue. When we talk about race somehow the HISTORY doesn't matter. Which is because many of the people that created the HISTORY don't want to deal with the HISTORY.
I used to look down at some people, until I started to look into why people are in certain situations. A what would happen to me if I were presented with the same problems under the same conditions.
