MarshallTalk
MarshallTalk is an Internet BLOG that discusses hard to deal with and controversial issues including Race, Politics, Class, Gender, Media, etc. The goal is to debate these issues and try to come up with some practical solutions. We also have weekly and monthly polls on a variety of topics. Marshall is a VERY emotional, direct to the point writer and previous Internet Radio Personality (Hopefully we can do something about that soon!). He really would appreciate your frequent debate/participation.

Re: Is there anything wrong with being a racist?
by Anonymous
Just wrote on my twitter today about the racial taboo in American society, so this entry seems especially interesting to me. There is a point, as a child, when one realizes that they are different from others around them, of course, and to some people who are race-aphobic, even this admission may seem outrageous, but it's just a fact. I think a lot of it has to do with the whole pedantic interpretation of the word. Where is the line drawn between racism, and acknowledgment of differences, whether it be aesthetic or cultural? It's an ever-increasing matter of interpretation. Furthermore, where does personal liberty intersect with everyday life? The word 'racist' is so loaded that these days it's almost taboo, in itself, to assume you can draw the line around where one person's definition begins, and another ends. If this doesn't make any sense, or seems overly wordy or stupid, my apologies. Thoughts are not particularly clear at 2 a.m.!
